After months in a beta-testing stage, where only a select few users could gain access to its services, the much-awaited opening of Circle to global consumers has arrived.
According to Circle’s about page, “Circle is a consumer finance company focused on transforming the world economy with secure, simple, and less costly technology for storing and using money.” Circle is similar to Coinbase in some ways: allowing customers to buy bitcoin, transfer bitcoin into and out of their Circle account, send bitcoin invoices, and offering insurance on all bitcoin held in the online accounts. Circle wants to make it easier for the layman to buy and use the virtual currency.
Additionally, according to the Circle blog, Native Circle apps may soon be available for Android and iOS devices, they are currently in beta testing. No timeline was given for the release of these apps.
